The Frequency of Love

Recently I’ve felt like I’ve tuned in 111.11 Love FM. Perhaps it’s because I’ve started this online dating caper or this Kinesiology course caper but my life feels like it’s being narrated by Cameron Daddo for Smooth FM (sit back, relax, run yourself a bubble bath…) and the soundtrack is the refrain from the Beatles/ Buble song: Love, love, love. Love, love, love.

I’m making meaningful eye contact with strangers with Powderpuff -Girl –Level-Swirly-eyes. They’re probably on their way to a blind date too full of hope and vulnerability. My heart bursts to see people shopping in Aldi (it’s too much), every song on the radio is ‘my song’ (thanks Cameron), I see 11’s everywhere and I finally understand what Taylor is singing about (with Joe not those other jerks).

Guyz! We are all just people together! We want to love and be loved! I’m like that guy in “American Beauty” star-stuck by his video of that damn plastic bag. Sometimes there’s so much beauty in the world, I feel like I can’t take it, and my heart is just going to cave in.

It’s not unpleasant. Actually it’s freakishly euphoric. Jeez! The money I could’ve saved on mind-altering substances! I think this is what Abraham Hicks calls the vortex. Their term for “alignment to Source energy. (Or whatever you call Universe, God, All That Is, etc.) Being in the vortex means you’re at one with who you really are, you’re feeling fab, and in vibrational alignment to your desires”.

I’ve previously experienced moments of vortex-ness but have pulled myself out of it by overthinking, listening to external or internal negative ninnies, stressing about things, watching depressive shit and telling Cameron to put a sock in it! It is hard not to blow it up and self-sabotage by worrying that what goes up must come down but Abraham says that it’s a practice. The more you can get into the vortex and stay there, the easier it becomes to get in and stay there. Guyz, I think I want to live here!

It helps that I’ve been on holidays so I’ve been able to carefully cultivate my environment; sleeping as much as I want, writing and reading lots, daily meditation and exercise and watching comedy faves like “The Mighty Boosh” (Do you love me? Are you playing your love games with me?). Abraham suggests doing things that are easy and feel good and noticing and appreciating the beauty around you; go for a walk and smell the flowers, focus on someone you love and list their good qualities (Ryan Gosling is…), dance to some upbeat music etc.

It is of course possible to stay in the Vortex while working and facing the realities of everyday life. Abraham says we can strengthen the ability to “deliberately pivot your attention OFF of something you don’t like and ON to something you do like”. So turn off the news, switch your dial to 111.11 Love FM and sit back, relax, run yourself a bubble bath.

Love and light and love songs and dedications for life! Xxx Yvette

  1. How to stay in the Vortex.

Find a visual queue of beauty, something that happens often and that you notice as beautiful in the vortex. For me it is birds.

When your autopilot starts to kick in, and starts to plot a destination rather than a journey, your visual queues are there as warning bells.

For me if I notice a bird, and then notice I do not see it as beautiful… ding! It is time to stop, disengage autopilot, take a breath, appreciate it’s beauty fully, and then appreciate the beauty of everything else past that point.
