Quarterly Review

Yikes! A quarter of the year done and dusted. Well that’s flown. Here’s what I’ve been trying…and God loves a trier after all.

Simplification: I find too much physical and mental clutter stress-inducing and irritating and so I’ve been trying to simplify wherever possible. I re-Kondo’d my house in Jan so have been mindful of only bringing joy sparkers in and keeping everything in its place. I’m not great at the Kondo fold but my version, the pseudo fold-roll, seems to do the job. I’ve unsubscribed from email lists and de-activated notifications so the horror and time-suckage of the red round thingies has dissipated. I’m still guilty as charged of over-checking my phone but slowly slowly catch a monkey.

You better work:  I’ve been hitting the walking track instead of the gym and like the double whammy of nature and exercise with the added joy of seeing doggies running and swimming and the soundtrack of poppy music, inspirational audio books or podcasts. I try to do 5 mins of yoga on an app daily and swim weekly. Though I opt for the Pool rather than dipping in the Merri Creek like the doggos do. I’ve been feeling more like gentle exercise of late so trying to listen to my body. I’ve also cut down my regular teaching hours, leaving more space for writing/reading/relief teaching/ life-stuff. Like Britney says; You want a hot body? You want a Bugatti? You want a Maserati? You better work bitch. And I think she was referring to walking and working part time.

Domestic goddess:  I’m no Nigella, but have been trying to cook more at home for delicious nutritiousness and thriftiness. I usually buy a bargain bag of broccoli and whizz it into ‘rice’ and use as a base for fried rice, stir fry or curry in a hurry. Likewise, I spiralise my zucchinis into zoodles and have with pesto or bolognaise like Nonna used to make. If nothing else, I have the ingredients for Brinner (breakfast for dinner) in my fridge and hoe into bacon and eggies while watching the ho’s on “Married at First Sight”. Oh no she didn’t!

The distant future: While I’m mindful of being mindful and being grounded in the present, I’m also visualising how I want my future life to be, look and feel. I’m daydreaming of a minimal house near the bush/ beach and a life filled with writing, teaching and helping people. I’ve created paper and virtual vision boards, been doing Ideal Life meditations and planned beach trips to fuel this future vision. When I start to freak about the details of a potential move, I remind myself of Life coach Marie Forleo’s mantra, “Everything is Figureoutable’ and then cue Britney again; You want to live fancy? Live in a big mansion? Look hot in a bikini? You better work bitch.

So, snaps for the first quarter of 2019 and bring on the rest!

Love and light and leave Britney alone! xxx Yvette
