I loved watching the series, “Modern Love” which is inspired by real-life stories of love in many different forms. Love at first sight, friendship, navigating dating, the one-that-got-away, marriage counselling, grieving, families and more. I’ve been thinking in particular about this bit:
In the final episode, we see the meet-cute that led Yasmine and Rob to their emergency room adventure. Rob has just been stood up. He’s actually fleeing the restaurant when the rain forces him under the same awning that Yasmine decides to duck under. When she strikes up a conversation, he tells her his tale of stood-up woe. To his surprise, Yasmine suggests that she fill in for his missing date — or, as she calls it, an act of “Universe recalibration.“
Yasmine explains that her mother told her to ‘recalibrate the Universe’. So, if someone cuts you off in traffic, you are extra generous about letting the next driver in. If someone steals your wallet, you donate some money. I love this! In these situations, the tendency might be to do the same thing, to cut another driver off or to hold onto cash more tightly but instead…you do the opposite.
I have noticed this with money, that you can shift your vibration from scarcity to abundance by leaving a tip or giving a donation, especially when you’ve been receiving bills-bills-bills. It feels good- so shifts your state- which changes your vibe-which attracts your experience and shifts the odds forever in your favour. I’ve done this with music and places too; taken myself out for a coffee at THE café where I was rejected, listened to THAT song while on a scenic walk. This reassociates them with new happier memories. The sooner the better. Darned if I’ll be avoiding THAT cute café or miss out on getting down to THIS sick beat.
Sometimes when I find myself resorting back to old unhelpful patterns, I try to do the opposite. Like when I feel the urge to hide away from the world in bed, I’ll push myself out the door for a walk around the block. This makes me feel better than bed would’ve, even though that was my first thought. As Seinfeld says: “If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right”. George Costanza: “Yes, I will do the opposite. I used to sit here and do nothing, and regret it for the rest of the day, so now I will do the opposite, and I will do something!”
Try doing the opposite and see how you can recalibrate the Universe for the better.

Funny … similar thoughts, kind of, today reading a blog which was talking about how our emotions can be viewed as interpretations, or how we view the world and people. We create our world view by these interpretations. It could be another way of looking at recalibrating the universe: reexamine these interpretations and reframe them in a more positive way.

Love this! Thanks 🙏 Enda! Another example of synchronicity. I’m reading ‘Super Attractor’ and Gabby Bernstein says if we don’t like how we’re feeling, we can simply choose again and change the thought to a better feeling one the next moment. She calls this the holy instant. I so appreciate you treading and commenting. Much love 💕 Yvette xxx

Thanks for posting this. Recalibrating the universe was definitely my favorite part of this terrific series. Easier said than done, but worth the effort!

You know I share your perspective on how important it is to align our vibration to what we want instead of what we don’t want, but “Universe Calibration” will take my practice to a whole other level. Thanks for sharing. Ps Love that Seinfeld episode!
