Dating 101

I’ve recently forayed into the world of online dating for the same reason everyone does; my kinesiologist said one of my angel guides was urging me to do it and he had my back. I had previously thought it wasn’t for a girl like me (shy-ish, old-fashioned-ish, seen Catfish-ish) but now I’m also just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to swipe right. I’m stumbling my way through it. Opps I think I meant to swipe the other way on that one! Oh well at least I have the peace of mind of divine backup. Which is more than most can say…

Casting a wide net: So many things I’ve previously resisted have turned out to be good for me: sobriety, sweaty-vetty gym sessions, home and job stability, healthy food (who knew right!). Maybe I don’t always know what’s good for me. Who’s to say that a 55 year old divorced IT Analyst from Maribyrnong isn’t a better match for me than the emotionally unavailable inner city creative type I usually go for? I mean to be honest, it’s never really worked out has it? So often we’re surrounded by people like ourselves, it can’t hurt to keep an open mind and maybe learn a little something new in the mean time. Like, for starters, where the heck is Maribyrnong and what the heck is an IT analyst?

How’s the chat? Can you get a sense of someone through an online profile? I think you sort-of can. The energy behind the way they answer the questions, their smize in the photo. And if you like the vibe of the thing, you can chat with them which gives you more of an idea about what this IT Analysing caper is really all about. As a people pleaser, (currently working on this) I don’t want to be rude by not responding in a timely fashion and as an introvert, I can get overwhelmed by too many ‘open tabs’ literally and metaphorically. Eek people alert!

Please like me: All the online world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts. He has his turn to be the liker and the liked. Hope springs eternal that one day the liked will also like the liker. For me the golden rules are to act with integrity, embrace the vulnerability, listen to my intuition (and angel guidance) reject gently, accept rejection graciously and just enjoy this brave new world.

After all I have nothing to lose and potentially a Dishy Daddy from Deepdene to gain.

Love and light and like xxx Yvette

Smizing is Tyra Banks’ secret to a stunning photo. Smizing is considered to be a look that involves smiling not only with your mouth but through using your eyes – smiling with the eyes – hence, “smize“.

  1. Love, love, love this!!!
I get it! I dipped my toe into the internet dating water and quickly pulled it out again. Like you I felt it ‘wasn’t for me.’ Everyone keeps saying maybe I didn’t give it a chance. Maybe I will dip a foot in next time and see how I go!
    Keep me updated! Xo
