Core Desired Feelings

Core desired feelings are the way you want to feel daily. They’re not destination driven like some goals but are based on the way you want to feel most often. Not just when you’ve achieved these goals but when you’re on the way to achieving them and all the times in between.

Danielle LaPorte says, “What if, first, we got clear on how we actually wanted to feel in our life, and then we laid out our intentions? What if your most desired feelings consciously informed how you plan your day, your year, your career, your holidays — your life?”

My lovely kinesiologist, Elena Pilch, helped me to identify mine. Behold my CDF’s; Creative, Connected, Free and Peaceful. I brainstormed some things I can do to feel these on the daily.

Creative: To feel creative I can write. Thank you dear reader for indulging my musings. I can dance and sing. Around the house, in the car or with a group at 5 rhythms and I’m contemplating joining a choir. I can also see movies or music and go to the theatre. I’m going to start setting myself an * artist’s date each week to actively seek inspiration as suggested by Julia Cameron in “The Artist’s Way”.

Connected: To feel connected I can spend time with friends. Speak on the phone to people (what!). Engage positively with online friends. And meet like-minded new friends at meet-up groups and workshops.

Free: To feel free I can drive places (a relatively new thing for me) or go for a walk. I can read the weekend paper while sipping a coffee in a café. I can plunge myself into water in the form of a swim, spa, bath or shower. I can be on holiday or be planning or dreaming of my next one.

Peaceful: To be a peaceful warrior I can meditate, go to the gym. Read booky wookys. Burn essential oils. Pat the fluffy cat angel. Enjoy tea and toast. Plunge in water or seek out nature.

What are your CDF’s Dear Reader? And how can you feel these as oft as possible?

Love and light and creative, connected, peaceful freedom xxx Yvette

  1. Enjoyed reading Core Desired Feelings. I also find your links very interesting each week to check out as well. Loved reading about the artist’s date and can understand why you went to see the Icelandic movie “The Swan” as your weekly artist’s date. Great movie to start with. We really enjoy the many Scandanavian shows we watch but haven’t been to one of their film festivals. Look forward to hearing about your next artist’s date and to read your next week’s blog!!

  2. Core Desired Feelings…..Desire Mapping…….Danielle La Porte. What a great book. I was thinking what are my core desired feelings????…..and then I remembered hang on they are on my desktop……yippee. Thanks be to God, Allah and Buddah all at once. Do a little dance and jump around, pat Lilla the dog.

    So to cut and paste:

    Core desires
    • Creative
    • Connections to my health
    • Connected in relationship with people
    • Energised

I like the way you have written about your CDF and then written about them too. Your blog is very honest, authentic, and so as a reader…..here goes.

    CREATIVE
To feel creative I can do some creative things everyday, play music, write words, either in music or on a script, theatre script of screenplay, rehearse a show, walk the dog in the bush, stare at the moon, promise myself to go camping soon, read creative books and books that make you look at the world differently, develop imagination and stories daily, work artistically with people who are more skilled than me, see mentors, dream, sleep dream, let the unconscious do it’s work, write early in the morning, while the world sleeps.

    CONECTIONS TO MY HEALTH
Meditate, Swim, Gym classes, (can’t do Gym on my own) walk, bush walk, dream about going camping soon, yoga, diet, eat food that heats up my body (ala Chinese medicine) build a fire in my back garden, play guitar to it and stare into the healing flames, Have a bath…..well not possible at the moment as no bath….but have a shower and imagine that Im in the bath)

    CONNECTED IN RELATIONSHIP WITH PEOPLE
Care about friends, do the little things, go to events that people care about, share, care, talk honestly, be vulnerable, be kind, feel love, bring laughter, be okay with tears, go for walks, ask about their dreams, hopes and yes why not CDF. Share jokes, create stories together, be in contact, be in connection, be love.

    ENERGISED
Just realised this is very similar to my connections with my health……..actually to all my CDF. When you feel energy, you feel good. Your batteries are charged, you can care, share and love. You can make a difference in this world. You can be creative and present with other people and your self. When you are energised you have fuel in your tank to drive your little vehicle we inhabit, onto terrain it longs for.
